Family Guide to MultiVersus (Age Rating PEGI 12)
Here's our guide to the new fun brawling game MultiVersus. You can find guides to other popular family video games on the site as well.
MultiVersus is a fighting game like Smash Brothers where you team up with or against other players. The novelty is this teamwork and the deep catalogue of characters you can fight with. Batman, Shaggy from Scooby Do, Superman, Bugs Bunny and so on.
Play is like other brawling-fight games where you land different attacks on your opponents to wear them down and eventually knock them off the screen. The focus here is on special abilities and how different characters can use unique co-op abilities. You can also team up unlikely parings of characters as combat duos.
In a similar way that Lego Dimensions took the Skylanders idea and blended it with a range of characters, this takes Smash Brothers and adds a similar (growing) roster of fighters. This already includes Iron Giant, Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman and Harley Quinn, Shaggy and Velma (Scooby-Doo), Bugs Bunny and Tasmanian Devil, Arya Stark, Tom & Jerry, Jake the Dog and Finn the Human, Steven Universe and Garnet.
Rated PEGI 12 for Mild Swearing. It's a 2D arcade-style fighting game. Violence consists of kicks, punches and the use of some weapons. There is no blood or visible injury. The characters' reactions to the violence are over-exaggerated with bright flashes and smoke effects on impact. Players can square off in direct hand-to-hand combat battles using human-like characters.
This game is free to play. Additional in-game purchases are offered for items that enhance the experience. It's important for parents to note that these are optional extras rather than must-have items. Although you can also spend money to unlock additional characters.
If you like the sound of this game but need a young age-rating, the following options are also a lot of fun:
